BSNL Shocks Everyone! ₹5,347 Crore Revenue Marks a Massive Comeback in Q2 2026

Imagine a government company that has been struggling for years suddenly taking off like a rocket — surprising everyone. We are talking about Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which has shown remarkable performance in the second quarter of the financial year 2026. BSNL’s revenue jumped to ₹5,347 crore, achieving 93% of its target. These are not just numbers — they mark the beginning of a new BSNL story.

In today’s post, let’s take a detailed look at BSNL’s Q2 results and see how the company is moving towards strong growth.

BSNL’s Financial Performance

In the first half of the financial year 2025-26 (April to September 2025), BSNL reported a total revenue of ₹11,134 crore. This includes ₹5,787 crore from the first quarter and ₹5,347 crore from the second quarter.

BSNL had set a revenue target of ₹5,440 crore for Q2, and the company achieved 93% of it. This strong result signals a big turnaround for the telecom giant.

Subscriber Growth and ARPU Increase

BSNL currently has 9.23 crore subscribers. In the past month alone, around 5.4 lakh new customers joined the network.

The most impressive metric is BSNL’s ARPU (Average Revenue Per User). In the first quarter, ARPU was ₹81, which has now increased to ₹91 — showing a 12% jump.

  • Maharashtra: ARPU reached ₹214 per month.
  • Kerala: 30% growth in ARPU.
  • UP West: 13% increase.

This performance improvement is mainly because BSNL is focusing on 4G expansion. With support from ITC, over 1 lakh new 4G sites have been added. In FY2025, BSNL also allocated ₹25,000 crore capex to make its network 5G-ready. This will enhance network quality, improve rural coverage, and add over 2 crore new 4G users.

Strategic Strength: Quality and Cost Control

Along with network expansion, BSNL is also focusing on service quality and cost control. These two factors have played a key role in the company’s revival.

However, challenges remain. BSNL’s ARPU is still lower compared to private telecom companies. According to TRAI, the average ARPU for private telecom operators is around ₹187 for prepaid and ₹182 for postpaid users. Since 93% of BSNL’s users are prepaid, improving ARPU remains a major challenge — but the company is actively working on it.

Government Support and Future Roadmap

Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia praised BSNL’s efforts, stating that “we set a target of ₹5,440 crore and achieved ₹5,347 crore.” He emphasized that this growth represents a significant leap compared to the previous year.

Scindia also introduced a 7-point roadmap to make BSNL future-ready:

  1. Monitor service quality on a daily basis.
  2. Keep strict control over operational costs.
  3. Increase revenue through innovative methods.
  4. Maintain balance between government and private clients.
  5. Reduce financial losses and improve profit margins.
  6. Build a culture of responsibility and ownership.
  7. Focus continuously on teamwork and service quality.

Scindia added, “The success of any organization depends not only on strategy but also on its culture.”

 What’s Next for BSNL?

BSNL’s next big goal is to achieve a 20% increase in revenue in the upcoming year, driven by growing 4G demand. The company plans to expand its network coverage further and is preparing to launch 5G services by 2026.

If everything goes as planned, BSNL could give tough competition to private telecom giants. Its strength will especially shine in rural areas where affordable plans are in high demand — benefiting millions of users and the company alike.

Final Thoughts

BSNL’s strong performance proves that with the right strategy and consistent effort, even a struggling organization can achieve great heights. The ₹5,347 crore milestone is just the beginning — bigger things are yet to come!
